Movist is a lightweight, simple and extremely practical video player for Mac OSX. It allows playback on a variety of video format files, including encoded ones such as FFmpeg and QuickTime. Unlike the great majority of video players for Mac, the software program allows for viewing in a variety of aspect ratios ranging from 16:9 to widescreen. In addition, the program includes several customization options that allow its users to browse, adjust and playback quickly and practically.

Without a doubt, one of the most notable features that Movist has to offer is its subtitle support. Apart from displaying subtitles in different languages, the program allows the editing of said subtitles. Even more than that, it allows users to insert subtitle files directly to the video file. This display can be modified and adjusted according to your particular needs and preferences. Simple and straightforward, the subtitle feature in this software can be used by inexperienced video editors with no problems.

In addition to editing and adjusting subtitles, the program's control panel allows you to control things like brightness, saturation, contrast and hue. As if that wasn't enough, it allows you to change the play speed of the video as well as syncing it with a particular audio file. Other than that, it's worthwhile mentioning the software's excellent support for keyboard shortcuts that allow it to be used faster and more efficiently. Even if you don't know these shortcuts, you can look at them in a special pop-up menu.

When it comes to performance, it can be confidently said that Movist is among the best of its kind. As previously mentioned, the program allows the import of a wide range of file formats. What's even better, however, is that it does a great job playing even the most obscure and difficult of these formats. As a matter of fact, the software program is capable of playing WMV files faster and more efficiently than QuickTime, and it's one of the few players that can play MKV files with absolutely no errors or syncing issues. Of course, the player also supports a wide range of codecs that make it even more versatile.
